The Democratic National Committee (“DNC”) is on the road to getting its groove back with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D. FL) at the helm of the DNC. Many Democrats must have wondered how the DNC would transition for 2012 after the stepping down of Tim Kaine to run for the Senate. That question has now been answered. Chairman Tim Kaine and his efforts and style will be missed by the DNC. But now, Wasserman Schultz will step up to the plate and bring home the winning run. I applaud President Obama in taking the bold step to bring a woman up to bat.
In light of the 2010 election, the Democrats cannot take anything lightly, if they are to win back the House and hold the Senate. Wasserman Schultz, a woman, a fundraiser extraordinaire and well-spoken TV figure must convey the message. Raising funds is important but messaging is an equal partner in the process. And the message must be orchestrated clear and concise and be told with emotion, empathy, passion and compassion. And who’s better than a woman to get the point across in this manner. But, Wasserman Schultz will need a team of others like her to get the story and message out.
While it’s clear to many Democrats, that the GOP is not going to make good on its promises to create jobs, that message must be hammered over and over again until it becomes a roar. The GOP has come to kill, steal and destroy jobs, Medicare, women’s rights, and anything or anyone else in the way to reward their corporate donors. Attacking the GOP will not be enough to get the Democrats groove back. The Democrats’ message of their accomplishments in the past 2 plus years must be told. This is an unfolding story that has not been fully been conveyed in the past 2 years. And the GOP has used the lack of the Democrats’ messaging to their advantage. Hopefully, the buck stops here and now. Everyone loves a good story and the Democrats and President Obama have a good story to tell. But, like any good story teller or speaker knows, it’s all about how you tell the story and get the message across that matter.
Wasserman Schultz’s energy, enthusiasm, spark and fire will be contagious. And she must use others like her to get the message across. When I see Wasserman Schultz on television, I am always eager to hear what she has to say. And she doesn’t disappoint in her winning ways to get the job done. Some have questioned whether she be able to handle her duties in Congress and her district along with running the DNC. Who is better than a dynamic woman to be able to multi-task. And to many who know her, she is known to give her all in everything she does. Yes, Wasserman Schultz will get the DNC’s groove back and get the job done.
